Genius is Booking.com's loyalty program. It's free, automatic once you sign in, and applies a discount on the spot rather than as future credit. Booking publishes the rules openly — here's a clean read of them, plus how to think about the actual value.
The three levels (as published by Booking.com)
- Level 1 — 2 completed stays in 2 years. Unlocks 10% off selected hotels.
- Level 2 — 5 completed stays in 2 years. Unlocks 15% off selected stays, plus free breakfast or room upgrades on some properties.
- Level 3 — 15 completed stays in 2 years. Unlocks 20% off selected stays, plus priority support.

Which rates qualify
Not every hotel participates, and at participating hotels not every rate qualifies. The discount appears as a blue Genius badge on the search card and a separate line in the price breakdown. If you don't see the badge on the specific rate, Genius doesn't apply to it.
How to think about the value
- Genius is a discount off Booking.com's price for that hotel — not necessarily off the cheapest rate that exists anywhere.
- Before booking, compare the post-Genius price against the same room on Hotels.com, Expedia, or the chain's own site. The Genius rate is sometimes the cheapest; sometimes another site's public rate beats it.
- If you book Booking.com regularly anyway, Genius is essentially free money. If you only use it once a year, the value is real but bounded — don't over-rotate trip choices to maintain a level.

Can I lose my Genius level?

Is Genius the same as Booking.com Rewards?
